Welcome to the North Star Ranch Legacy Village Website

We are a family of dedicated Land and Animal stewards seeking co-creators of our North Star Ranch Legacy Village vision. 

We have spent more than two decades caring for horses, mini-donkeys, chickens, mini-goats and companion animals while moving our ranch 11 times from leased land since our first horse, Lady D, become a part of our family in 2005.    

North Star Ranch is the name we have given to the forever home we are seeking — a sanctuary for the animals, our family, and a small circle of kindred partners who wish to join together with us in this vision.

The heart of this ranch is the care of the horses and animals. From that center grows the rest of the life we want to share: growing food, tending the land, and creating a small low-impact rural settlement that can last.

What we are creating

– A “Forever Home” for the herd and the animals who are already a part of our family. Most of our ‘guardians’ have been rescued and adopted over the years and are precious beings whom we value beyond words. 

– A Farmers Community Land Trust, so the land can be held in common and protected from being sold out from under the people and animals who live on it.

– A Legacy Village  — a small multi-family rural settlement organized around stewardship, self-reliance, and a shared ranch life.  Working with local Planning Department to establish a new zoning/code for rural ranchers and farmers.
